Quote Versions & Revisions
How to revise quotes safely after sending and keep a clean audit trail.
Overview
Revisions are common—clients request changes to scope, materials, or timelines.
The goal is to:
- Keep your quoting history clear
- Ensure the client is approving the correct version
Recommended revision workflow
- Duplicate the quote (or create a new version where supported).
- Apply changes with a short change summary.
- Update the status (e.g. Draft → Sent).
- Re-send the revised quote.
- Mark the previous version as superseded in notes.
What to include in a change summary
- What changed (materials, quantities, exclusions)
- Price impact
- Timing impact
Troubleshooting
Client is looking at an old version
- Confirm which link/attachment they opened.
- Re-send the latest version and clearly label it "Revised".
